So the place to begin defining eMarketing is to consider where it fits within the subject of marketing. So let's start with a definition of marketing. The American Marketing Association (AMA) definition (2004) is as follows:

Marketing is an organizational function and a set of processes for creating, communicating and delivering value to customers and for managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the organization and its stakeholders.

Therefore eMarketing by its very nature is one aspect of an organizational function and a set of processes for creating, communicating and delivering value to customers and for managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the organization and its stakeholders. As such an aspect, eMarketing has its own approaches and tools that contribute to the achievement of marketing goals and objectives.

This also helps us to differentiate between eMarketing and E-commerce, since E-Commerce is simply buying and selling online.

What is the difference between eMarketing and Internet Marketing?

There is no real difference between eMarketing and Internet Marketing. However, with the arrival of mobile technologies such as PDA's and 3G mobile phones, as well as Interactive Television, both terms tend to be stretched to include these new media technologies. On the other hand, others would see eMarketing and Internet marketing a subtly different, for example Chaffey (below):

Internet marketing is achieving marketing objectives through applying digital technologies. (Chaffey 2006)

eMarketing is achieving marketing objectives through use of electronic communications technology. (Chaffey 2006)

Whilst this distinction is wholly acceptable, it is difficult to see where the distinction lies between digital technologies and electronic communications technologies, especially with the convergence of technologies such as mobile devices.

What are the eMarketing tools?

The Internet has a number of tools to offer to the marketer.

A company can distribute via the Internet e.g. Amazon.com.

A company can use the Internet as a way of building and maintaining a customer relationship e.g. Dell.com.

The money collection part of a transaction could be done online e.g. electricity and telephone bills.

Leads can be generated by attracting potential customers to sign-up for short periods of time, before signing up for the long-term e.g. which.co.uk.

The Internet could be used for advertising e.g. Google Adwords.

Finally, the web can be used as a way of collecting direct responses e.g. as part of a voting system for a game show.

How do marketers plan for eMarketing?

There are two ways of looking at this.

An existing organization may embark upon some eMarketing as part of their marketing plan.

An organization trades solely on the Internet and so their marketing plan focuses purely on eMarketing.

The marketing plan in either case is the next step, whether focused upon eMarketing or all marketing. The next lessons focus upon a tailor-made eMarketing plan which conforms to the acronym AOSTC (from our generic marketing planning lesson).

A - Audit - An audit of internal strengths and weaknesses, an external opportunities and threats.

O - Objectives - SMART eMarketing objectives.

S - Strategy - eMarketing strategies.

T - Tactics - an eMarketing mix.

C - Controls - measuring the performance of our eMarketing plan.

New Adsense Widget For Monetizing Your Blog

If you are interested in monetizing your blogging, adding adsense to your blog is very important. Where you place your adsense does impact the number of clicks you get.

Many people place their adsense on the right column or at the top. This may lead to ad blindness which occurs when you look at the same format over and over again. They know those listings are advertisements and unconsciously filter them out.

A good way to overcome ad blindness is to put adsense in unexpected places. So you might want to experiment with placing your ads between posts. This placement is in the natural flow of text which may lead to a greater amount of clicks on your ads.

Have you wanted to insert your Google adsense between your blog posts without complicated coding instructions? You are in luck. Apparently, there is enough of you out there wanting to insert adsense, that Google has now developed a new adsense widget. You can add your adsense between your blog post just the same way you add adsense to other areas of your blog.

Google has a new post titled "Get Inline" at their adsense blog at adsense.blogspot.com. They show how to add adsense. It is really easy to do like everything else on Blogger.

This is what you need to do:
1. Log into your Blogger account.
2. Go to your blog's template tab and click on "page elements" link.
3. Go to "blog posts" and click on "edit" located on the lower right corner.
4. Under "select items" check the "show ads between posts" box.
5. Under "configure inline ads" you can select how often you want your adsense to appear. For example, you can them appear after every post or after every other post.
6. Next, you can customize your adsense such as choosing format and colors.
7. Most important, save your changes.

Since Google now owns Blogger, Google is becoming responsive to input from Blogger's users. Hopefully, we may see more changes and improvements to Blogger as feedback to Google continues.

You need to follow Google's term of service for adsense placement. You can be banned if you break the rules. You are allowed to have only three ad units per page. However, Blogger makes easy to follow the rules by allowing a maximum of three ad units in the blog post. So, you will not exceed the maximum limit if you add adsense between blog posts. You just cannot go on to add adsense anywhere else on your blog.
By: Nancy Val Verde

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

To learn more about this topic, check out my websites at Blogging Fundamentals

Google Desktop and Elert Gadget Marketing

If you haven't heard of Google Desktop then the chances are you have not heard of the Google Elert Gadget or elert marketing. At the moment people are using techniques elert marketing to make a few thousand dollars a day. Sure, it's good. But as it becomes more popular the market is going to explode...just like email did a decade ago.

Many a millionaire was made during the first internet bubble. Wildly over valued IPOs for companies that had no real business model, and in many cases no where near the revenue that was needed to build a company that should go public. However, what many people fail to realise is that many people survived the bubble. In fact, many people made their millions during the bubble. How did they do it? Simple. They did not rely on investment bankers, Silicon Valley's VC crowd, or even intangible brand marketing income. They made cold hard cash from doing one of two things: selling products directly or building an audience and using that audience to sell other people's products while they took a commission. Sure, some companies were crossed ethical boundaries - and, what are now considered legal ones - by sending SPAM. Other people complied with double-opt in procedure and they still didn't have any problem making money. It was like a dream come true. Every time an email gets sent, a percentage of their list would covert, and they would make money. It was almost like their own cash machine - send an email to their list, and they were sure to make some money out of it. As long as they did not get greedy, and send too many emails to their list, everyone is happy. But then the market became crowded. Too much money was in the space, so people were scaling their operations and people were flooding in. Why wouldn't you when you realise you can make hundreds of dollars from just getting an email address? There are stories of people making hundreds of millions without a single member of staff - only a server, a database of email addresses, and a computer in their bedroom. It was like a dream come true.

But then the landscape changed. Before people didn't have to give you anything for an email address. Now consumers realise their value - in the time they spend wading through their SPAM. Now people can get as many free email addresses as they like, people are sending out thousands of emails per day, and the value per email address has shrunk to pathetic lows. Now people sell lists of 10,000 email addresses for under $30. This is proof they are worth next to nothing, People would rather make quick bucks off a list rather than retire to the Bahamas with a recurring income stream.

Now, the new wave of email marketing is here - and its called Elert Marketing. You can access someone's Google Desktop within minutes, and be benefiting from the other income sources that will come as people access your pages which will then be published online. This may turn out to be like email marketing, but for now elert gadget marketing is going to be making a lot of people millionaires - and a lot of millionaires richer. Don't be left behind when it comes to Google Elert Gadget - get your foot in the door and benefit from being one of the early players. Then once you have made your first million, you can then start to worry about its future.

About the Author

Roshawn Hall writes articles about elert marketing.
